The following examples give an insight into what sektoreins can be used for.
The interactive diagrams are designed for larger screens. On a phone they can only be used to a limited extent.
The diagram shows in simplified form how sektoreins connects individual devices with each other: from sensors and pumps through relays to heat pump and CHP unit, everything communicates with the cloud platform via a local gateway. Click on a device to learn more about its role in the system.

- Gateway level: local control and protocol translation — fully operational even without a cloud connection

Communication & integration
Protocol abstraction, device integration, edge computing
Rarely does everything in a plant speak the same language. One device runs on Modbus, the next on BACnet, a third is only reachable through the manufacturer cloud. The gateway translates that, and the same interface sits above all of them.

Protocol abstraction layer
All protocols are normalised into a single internal data point model. The same API always sits on top. Further protocols are added as extensions, without touching existing integrations.

A new device is not a project
A device type we have never connected before does not raise a development ticket and does not wait for a release. It is set up like any other. No gateway firmware update, no rollout at the customer site, no vendor-specific driver maintenance.

Edge computing
Pre-processing, aggregation and signal filtering run locally on the gateway, directly at the device instead of through a manufacturer cloud. Measurements are therefore available second by second, exactly as the device delivers them. If the WAN connection is interrupted for a while, acquisition and control keep running locally.

Where direct fieldbus access is not possible, sektoreins connects plants through the manufacturer cloud interface. The data lands in the same model as directly polled devices.
